YOG Football Club, The Bushrangers:
Through the determination of a special group of 快播 students wanting to continue their football, friendship and social journey together, the Yarra Old Grammarians Football Club (The Bushrangers) was forged. Focusing on football, leadership, social and community development the club provides a friendly and welcoming environment for all ex-students and local members of the community.
On the field over the last 25 years the Bushrangers have always trained and played hard, culminating in the ultimate Premiership success 7 times and many more finals campaigns. Off the field the club is just as famous for socialising and functions celebrating Yarra Spirit.
In 2016 the Yarra Old Grammarians FC joined forces with the School to create a unified football program. Students become Bushrangers while at Yarra, past students join the school鈥檚 coaching program and we play as one, we all play as Bushrangers.
In 2017, a women's team was created and the Yarra Women's Program is now one of the best teams in the strongest local competition in Victoria. One of only a few clubs with both a senior and reserves team, Yarra plays in the Premier B Division of the VAFA.
Three legends of the game, Dean Letson (2004), Rob Drew (2000) & Chris Beal (1999) have recently been interviewed on the YOG Inspired by Yarra podcast. To listen to their episodes please click below:
Other YOG Sports at the YOGFC:
Netball for the ladies (The Thunderbolts) and male basketball programs were added to the club鈥檚 program in 2015 providing a wider array of ways in which past students can engage in Bushranger spirit.
At Yarra students spend many hours together studying, socialising, playing sports, preparing for the future and creating life lasting friendships. Post graduation life is never the same again, friends take different paths and it becomes harder to stay in touch. Yarra Old Grammarians has become the perfect place and the best way to continue mateship beyond school, become a Bushranger today by joining one of the many sporting teams as a player or a supporter.
