Food Studies Assistant - Fixed Term Contract

An exciting opportunity exists to join our enthusiastic and passionate Food Studies Team, where there is plenty of opportunity to apply your practical skills and experience to a wide variety of tasks.  This is a full time, term time only, LSL replacement position from 25 August to 11 December 2025.

The Food Studies Assistant is responsible for the management of the day-to-day preparation of materials for practical work for all Food Studies classes. The role requires the sourcing and preparation of food ingredients for classes; and provision of technical assistance and advice to staff and students for appropriate and effective processes within Food Studies classes. The incumbent is regarded as a specialist in the field of Food Handling and will be required to provide current, safe and accurate advice.

In particular, the successful applicant will be required to perform tasks in the following areas:

  • ordering supplies
  • food preparation and handling for classes and department activities
  • assisting in the classroom as required
  • ensuring OHS practices and procedures are updated and followed

Excellent presentation, communication and interpersonal skills are required along with the ability to demonstrate initiative and to prioritise tasks.  Previous experience within a school setting is preferred.

The successful applicant must have a current employee Working With Children Check.
